hi I hope somebody can help me with my endli bichir. I noticed that my endli's body turned crooked/deformed a few days ago and it has been like this up to now. Even when it moves or swims up for air, the body stays deformed. I feed him on a diet of mp and sw. When I got him 3 mos . ago, he was only 4 inches long and has a straight body then. Now he is at 6 inches but with the deformed body. Does anybody know why this happens ? And is there anything i can do or any medicine i can give him ? thanks ... here is the picture of my deformed endli :

Could be a broken back, or could be geneticly deformed.
This is what happens when you mass breed a fish...

A perfect LOOKING CB bichir can suddenly start do deform as it grows.

Will it heal? No.

Will it live? Maybe. I have seen some pretty old deformed Bichirs live reasonable lives with worse. (Worst i've seen was an Endli where the body was 180 twisted halfway down. So it's anus was where his dorsal fins should be... When it pooped, it looked like a volcane erupting.)

+1 probably genetics

i would like to see a picture or vid of this volcano.

tks for the diagnosis guys ! really appreciate the inputs. At least now im positive that it is not the water quality of the tank nor something wrong I have done that is causing this since the deformation could be from a broken back or simply genetics. Wish i could do something for the poor fella ... but since theres nothing I could do for it, will just hope for some miracle to happen on this fish ...

Might of bumped its body against the glass and broke his spine. Typical nerve damage from CB fish.
