I have two rtc tsn hybrid cats that I bought when they were 4-5 inches and fed them twice a day. Now they are approaching 7 and 9 inches and was wondering what feeding regimen would be best. They are primarily fed sinking carnivore and massivore.

I am sure you will get many opinions on this subject. The younger / smaller they are the more they should eat both frequency and volume. With those guys I would continue with 2 meals a day but make them smaller meals. Around 12" I would cut back to one feeding a day or maybe a large feeding every other day. Some fish fillets and night crawlers once in awhile would be appreciated as well.

They had very big appetites but as they get bigger they are not as aggressive when it comes to eating ( probably because they are used to eating twice a day now). Somedays they will scarf down 8-10 massivore pellets at a time and other times he only wants 1 or 2

I feed my guys until they are ready to "pop" every 3-5 days now that they are both nearing the 18" range ( I swear they've both exploded in size since the upgrade) before that I fed them every other day as much as they would/could eat in a sitting them let them purge a few days... they where also the only fish in the tank so predation of tank-mates wasn't going to happen. But now they are w/ tank-mates they clean up the few extra pellets that hit the bottom every day from feeding the other fish.. I just make sure they get their fill at least 1x a week.

and a lot of people do things different.. imho they do need a binge/purge cycle some-what as they are designed for this type of feeding ( like snakes ) how you accomplish this for everyone I think can be different depending on their set-ups ect.

Yea, they seem to want to binge only a couple times a week. I think im going to switch to once a day for a couple days and see what happens. My bigger one has grown from 5 inches to 9 inches in 23 days, pretty impressive. I heard stories of half an inch a week but he has blown that out of the water. The smaller of the two went from 4.5 inches to 7 inches in the same time frame

My cats are all over 2 feet and I mix it up...sometimes I'll feed three days in a row and sometimes I won't feed for a week. They dont seem to mind.

What do you fuys recommend for food that sinks other than pellets? I have to use a two foot pvc pipe just to get the food down to them so its not intercepted by other fish

Anything lean and fish like. Tilapia is good, so is raw shrimp. Whatever is cheap at the store, when they start eating a lb+ of food every feeding you'll appreciate not having them hooked on massivore. Mine love whole herring as an occasional treat because it is rather oily and fatty. Things to not feed them: chicken livers and pork/beef. Anything super fatty is a no no as they will likely throw it back up. I have fed mine lean chicken breasts before and they seemed fine but try to stick with fish based foods.
