Ez braid spider wire is probley my favorite line for small fresh water game. However after a few weeks the line seems to flatten and doesn't cast as well. I also keep braid on one pole that I use giant weights on
Use mono so you can fill your spool up.
A local pond recently added about 40 2-8 pound grass carp. Me and,y freinds have been trying to catch them but have had no luck. They just swim around the shore of the pond in pods anywhere from 2-10+ fish. We've been following them and trying to sight cast to them but this scares them. I was thinking of just throwing out some corn under a bobber and waiting for a pod to swim by. Any info will be much appreciated.
Haha, when I said throw I meant cast lol. I'm not gunna be hand lining them. We tried feeding them first but they were startled by the corn hitting the water... It's crazy how spookish they are.Ive seen carp that will attack aggressively and then ive seen those ones that run like hell when they see anything hit the water. They are unpredictable and you shouldnt rely on them. Youd be better off bringing a couple rods and reels. Getting something to lean your rods on, chumming the water with corn and then throwing out your line. Then use another rod to fish normally in the meantime. Keep an eye on the other rods though, a carp will take your rod and youll never see it again. Good luck!

Alright thanks. I'll try that and post pics if I get any.Haha I didnt mean hand fishing. I mean casting out a couple extra rods and then rigging those with corn and leaving them in the water. Some are very skittish not sure why. Maybe because they have no predatorial defenses against anything and are commonly eaten by other fish and or predators

Yeah I've caught them before, but I've never seen them so skittish. I'll look for carp pellets.Sounds good. Expect a fight because if you do hook one, its not going to come in without a crazy fight. Also try carp pellets. They are what fisheries use to feed them and great for stocked carp. Some local fishing shops will sell them. Ive seen them at walmart.
