What a beast

The Aimara? OR the fish punking the big old knife? ;)

My Aimara's a puddy cat. He was getting punked by the knife, and is the reason the knife no longer resides in the big tank.

My big tank is pretty screwed up. The Aimara gets beat up by the knife. The big Brycon gets punked by the Lemon finned barb. The small Brycon never gets touched. And the biggest eaters are the catfish. :(

Lol! Too funny .... unbelievable the changes in behavior given the right set of circumstances .... hopefully the aimira is doing fine

Funny how fish interact. I've owned many clowns but never trusted them. I would think the dorado would kick his butt. Mine used to always give chase.

Here's the perp. :grinno:

Apparently I have a case of "good" Dorado, "bad" Dorado.

The other (good) Dorado was with the same knife in a 6x3 and they were fine. Got along great, no squabbles for months (even added the knife to the Dorado's tank)

This Dorado (that resided in the big tank aka the "bad" Dorado) seems to be matching right up with others' experiences of Dorado getting fiesty after the 12-14" mark. I think these guys are the largest ones I've ever kept. The big one "Hannable" I had ended up at a buddy's till 16" then went out to Chicago where it quickly jumped tank to tank owner to owner, messing up a lot fish in the process. I lost track of it after 3 owners out there. I don't remember that one being this thick though.

Hopefully the "good" one stays passive. He's shoaling with the lil Brycon in the big tank now while the aurnry one swims in timeout back with the midgets in one of the 6x3s.

Will be very interesting to see how "Robert" the sassy brassy turns out temperment-wise when he finally gets tank mates next month. A combo I've wanted for years, but Tor just grow so stinking slow. :nilly:

I totally agree with you on trusting Clowns. It was one thing for this knife to punk the wolf. I know he'd snap back if provoked enough, and wolves are tough. My Falks are a different story. After seeing the Clown bite the Falks several times he got voted off and on to a smaller tank he went, where he seemed and still seems fine with the male rays. The last big Clown I had bit rays as well. Yet any time I've tried to raise knives with rays the rays eat them.... :(

I really think there's something about giving these things room. Seems the more they have the more they try to take. I raised all my smaller Dorado crammed in smaller tanks cause when put in big tanks they became territorial. The biggest group I had tried to kill each other in a 300, yet when stuck in a 40 breeder they swam in formation and everyone healed great.

The perdictability aspect definitely makes the hobby interesting!!! :)

Haha I knew it was one of the frankies!

You named the brassy after me! :D <3 lol

And he's a juicer.

I think Jeckyl and Hyde would be appropriate for the Francys. :screwy:

The Aimara i think is a beast, he's a very nice looking fella.

When i introduced mine i actually thought my Temensis was going to eat him, my Ripsaws would come and sit on top of him - i even saw my 12" Azul joining in on the 20" Aimara.

That was interesting.

He settled a few days and attacked everyone in the tank and then calmed down once he made his mark - now they all live well together but i do see him show them who's boss now and again just to remind them.

I never had CK down as aggressive fish really, with fish i find it's not always who has the bigger teeth, who's the biggest or basically the one with the biggest artillery who's the aggressor.

It's a case of "he who dares, wins"
