How much black sand would I need to cover 48"x13"?

I had 30 lbs of sand in my 55 covered it completely with a 2.5-3" from the bottom

For reals. Thats alot less than what I thought. Ok thanks I might go to petco and get some later today cause this gravel is annoying. I was also thinking of just leaving it bare bottom but it might look weird.

Yeah it depends some people go by the rule of thumb of 2 lbs of sand to every gallon but personally I feel like it takes up too much available tank space

I would buy 50lbs and fill it until you're happy with the coverage

I have about 48 lbs in my 55g. Start at 40 lbs, if it doesn't look like it's enough go get some more.

This actually isn't a bad idea. It doesn't hurt to have some extra sand

Ok so should I wait for eggs to hatch or do I switch it before? Some already hatched some didnt.
