My Pinima have moved...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Are you saying this rock probably has that problem also? That sounds like it would be an isolated issue, not a regular problem with rock in general. Please explain so I know if I should be concerned. Thanks for the info!

There is info somewhere on MFK about safe and unsafe rocks for aquaria, a good amount of rocks from landscape stores is unsafe. Yours looks just like the rock I had. Some rock has heavy metals in it= bad, some changes PH= can be bad if unintentional, some has chemicals or poisons= bad.

A few years ago I had some rocks in my aquarium that started to rust....I took them out as soon as I noticed.

You all are making me want to take my rocks out now as I just found mine in my yard.

I have read about doing the vinegar test, put it on any stone you want to use if it fizzes its NO BUENO for your aquarium will change PH. I have yet to find a stone that causes the vinegar to fizz but I always try it, then I boil water and put the stones in for a while not sure if this helps either.

Bass are looking smoking tomka

Thanks for the compliments & advice everyone. I really like the set-up so I'm just gonna keep a close eye on the water & do a lot of water changes. The tank is brand new so it is cycling & I need to do more water changes than normal anyway! I'm diggin' these guys together too!

NOt to be mean...but...I think it looks like crap. HOnestly.
I dont like the shape or look of the rocks. The look to forced....like a man made wall.
A nice 3d background would look much better.
And the flagstone in the black sand looks like a walkway.
Not to rain on your parade...but I dont like it one bit.
