hard water deposits on glass canopies

water from my area is on the hard side, so i get that hazy white crap on my two glass canopies.. whos got the best way to clean this stuff off without scratching the crap out of the glass?

I've had it over the years and to be honest, I just get new ones. Because you will get a lot of it off with vinegar/salt and it's really still there and takes no time to come back. I've found by keeping your light high off the glass prevents the stains from forming at all or at a much slower rate.

I just use the magnetic algae scraper that I use on the rest of the tank once a week. That way it really never gets bad enough to be a problem
