stringray food costs

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My food bill is maybe $50. That is with pellets and all 16 tanks. That also is if I just use store bought food. I go fishing and catch quality fish to fillet up for my fish. I am at $4 a day for electric.

I have 1 10" bdxleo, 1 7"+ mature male hystrix, 2 5"+ motoros. Plus small black aro, 10 discus, 2 mbu, 2 small nile perch and a big list of misc fish. That price also included 15 gars ranging from 12"-24".

Dam you spend a lot on electric and water

Mine is about £200 per month on electric water is the same price no matter how much I use

Now food for 5 large rays per month
4 x 348g bags of hikari sinking cichlid gold £30 RRP
2kg of hikari sturgeon £29 RRP
1 x 1kg of massivore £50 RRP
10 x bags of frozen peeled prawn £30

So yes that's over $100 per month on food more like $150 in your money but hikari is a joke price in the UK and what we call prawns are so small you would call them shrimp

Yeah hikari here costs too much I pay £8.50 per bag of large floating pellets not even a big bag... And our prawns are tiny unless you buy king prawns (which still aren't that big)but cost atleast double...

The big boxes of shrimp i get are usually packed into 2lb bags. A bag would last my big prego female 2 days. Half pound in the morn and a half pound at night. She got a little weird this pregnancy and only ate shrimp for a few weeks. Typically i feed about 3 to 4 lbs per day total for my 6ish rays

I spend about $25 a week on food for my single 13" Leo male. I feed him lots of shrimp, night crawlers, tilapia fillet and massivore. Water is free for me :-) . Electric is about 60 extra a month

Just the rays ..

4 doz crawlers ( my big spiney gets some as well so maybe 3 doz the rays eat) - 6$
1/4 lb blackworms - 8$ ( eel likely eats some of those as well)

14$ per week x4.. 60$ give 'r take to feed my retic pair a month. sometimes I get 1/2 lb of worms.. sometimes I get 3 2doz containers of worms..

electric and water ect... well plenty of other fish so that's negotiable..

we average about 200$ a month in food alone for our fish.

I spend at least $150 a month on food,electric-$475,water-$175. That's 1350 gallons between 4 tanks with 12 rays,4 pbass, vulture catfish and 2 RTG's eating most of the food. I also have about 20 other various fish but they are much kinder on the food bill.

It's my hobby not a business and I will always be in the red! If a hobbyist thinks he will get rich breeding rays then you better start looking for 4 more jobs just to pay for the costs!!!

Ooooops my big dat pulcher ST does eat about 3lb of the massivore on his own that I quotes
