General Stingray Price List

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I used to feel the same about mutts as you call them but my opinion has now changed as the market demands a great look ray no matter what it is

You get ugly looking rays even if they are pure blood or hybrid

As long as a hybrid has all black ray genes it don't care what it is as long as it looks nice

I'm not a lover of black and brown ray hybrids
But that's just my taste

A motoro with and black ray genes will double in price compared to a pure blood motoro pup

As for flash names added by Asian farms they have been doing it for years with Asian Arowana and flowerhorns so its nothing new

And this is where we are heading. It is only a matter of time before hybrids will bring higher dollar amounts. Pure blood rays are only going to go so far. Why do you folks think they breed hybrids over in Asia? Yes there are still a select few pure breds that demand top dollar over there but not many.

T1 your passion has always seemed to have been black rays. Mine has always been the browns. That is what makes this hobby fun...so many choices in either category.

I still have yet to see any flashy names come out of Asia for pure blood rays. All the names seem to have developed here in the U.S.

Hypothetically if this ray came in as a WC I would label it as a super spot motoro. There is only one WC ray on MFK that I have seen recently that closely resembles a star motoro. I cant remember how to spell his name but Snake8myelbow has that WC super spot ECZS on aquabid was selling.

To get back to the point of the OP's thread about prices there is a prime example. 400 for the WC super spot versus 800 for the CB star you had that ray listed for. Yes they are 2 different rays but had nobody said anything that would not be known and she would be labeled a super spot which she is not.

That is an example of what we both are saying. that ss that ezcs was selling if he changed the name to cb star he could have got more money for it. I have seen it. In the long run it would be noticed because you state ss fade and stars don't. That is were the confusion comes in. Depending on knowledge or lack of knowledge of background can change a rays price and even double it. All because of the name that gets put on it due to the knowledge of what it is.

We did go off a bit on genetics but that actually directly corresponds to the price of the ray. It is proven right here with this star ray.

I appreciate the knowledge of what it actually is, because the price is high for was it could have been. That cost of the ray is what the ray actually cost to bring in no mark up. I was going to help a friend sell it but I have decided to get it myself. I have thinking about it before it was even offered for sale.

Everyone here makes some great points. I agree the looks of a ray is most improtant but what is most overlooked is when buying pups unless you have seen the parents and older siblings you have no clear idea what it will develop into.

As far as hybrids some are very impressive looking, but there are way to many people selling hybrids mis-labeled for higher prices out of greed. I see MM all the time that have little or no Marble in there blood. As far as black rays, I am lucky to have a local reputable breeder... that being said I would never again pay BD money from someone I don't know is both reputable and can trace the origin of there animals.

A great example of this was H20, I do not know him and got into rays after he was out , but friends of mine who saw his facility said he regulary kept leo/BD and hens in the same ponds so he was never sure f it was full BdXBd but they where all sold as they appeared.

Hybrids already fetch a higher price than pure bloods if they look nice

as for a lot of hybrids coming out of asia is because they dump loads of different rays in a pond and see what comes out
this also happened with asian aros the pure strains was chilli and blood reds they dumped them all in a pond not knowing what the parants was and bingo the super red was born

Could care less if it is a mutt. Half of my rescued cats, dogs and fish are mutts. I treat them no differently then any pure bred out there. I love these discussions in the ray forum. There is always one person that just cant seem to keep comments to themselves.

Do you breed those mutts though? there is a distinct difference between a pet and a breeder... and I thought we where all suppose to have our own oppinions? just because we don't agree doesn't mean we can't learn from eachother. as for the bag comment.. you haven't seen them? Just because I don't value hybrid rays doesn't mean you can't, but because I don't I should keep my comments to myself? I don't see why EVERY ray should be hybridized.. Just as you see no value in keeping lines pure.

It's not all about money for me.

Pure bloods are nice so are some hybrids that should be the end of it

Pure blood dogs was man made to suit what people want from a dog

Black rays are being bred also for what people want in the case of a black hybrid bigger whiter spots

It will take time to bred the rays to suit people's taste
Dog breeds didn't happen over night

You may say dogs and rays are a different story but you are using the term mutt which is a dog term

That should be the end of it.. but I'm intolerante of people telling me to essentially keep my oppinions to myself because they don't like them...

Right/Wrong ( ethics, beliefs, ect aside ) I'm just trying to call a spade a spade.

I very much like hearing everyones opinions even when it gets heated. I think thats what makes this site great. Wish people wouldnt leave just because of an argument. If people didnt speak their minds we may miss something very valuable to the hobby

Hahahahahah I'm the last person you should be telling we are entitled to our opinions

I have been sticking to mine for years

But my opinion on hybrids has changed you are saying the same things I was saying 8 years ago when I joined this forum

How do you even know a Leo mm or any other ray for that matter is a pure blood they may have cross bred in the wild to become the rays we know its called evolution

What it comes down to is your always going to have people that are purists and those who are not. There are people out there myself included that are both. I keep hybrids and pure blooded rays. What I don't like are the people who cant keep irrelevant comments on a discussion to themselves. With that being the case as was stated before time and time again by the moderators in other rays threads is just send them to your ignore list.:D Know back to the discussion as it was really starting to get good.
