Emperor 400 Vs Aquaclear 110, Review.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have both and I believe they are both good filters and its too hard for me to decide which one I like better. I have a question though. If you stacked the floss and media in the emperor the same way you do in the aquaclear, would it work just as well? I noticed if the floss on the emperor gets too dirty, the water will just flow over or around the floss whereas it is forced through the floss on the ac

Being that then I suggest to replace the floss pads, I mean It can happen but thats why it is really easy to replace such media if gets clogged.

I've used Emperors for years but my problem with them have been getting them to restart after I'm done doing water changes and I have had a few impellers burn out on me at inoportune times.I have been thinking about looking into an AC largely due to its flow rate.

Can someone show me what they have in their emp400? I love the ac110, but I just had my old ones impeller brake and I wanna try the emporer and idk what you guys mean when you say floss pads lol

Sure, this is a floss pad, they sell them in fabrics stores to fill in cushions.

They are very cheap, one of those squared floss pads costs me a dollar, i cut out of it 3 smaller pieces just to fit in the emperor.

Just bought the Ac last week after my 400 started acting funky. I ended up fixing the 400 and I'm now running both. The AC is a quiet beast bro.

Thank you for pics! But do you just put the floss on the cartridge or what? Lll

Nope, there are two ways to go. 1.- cut the floss to fit in tightly inside of the emperor just like that.

2.- Use the cartridges then when it is time to dispose them you only detach the blue floss, throw it away along to the carbon, keep just the frames and attach some of the white floss to them using some rubber bands and voila!.

I just cut the back of the cartridge and dump out the carbon. I've been rinsing and reusing them for about 4 years now.

The grey plastic cartridges are perfect for biomax too. I line them up and they can hold quite a bit of bio.

The only thing I font really care for is the spray bar. I just don't see the point as water is either running under the wheels or sprayed on top. Either way, the wheels are wet and exposed to air.
