I have 2 green terrors in a 29 gallon QT/growout tank. They are both about 4 inches but still fairly thin compared to one I have in the main tank.

The main tank is 240 gallons and currently has a 7 inch GT and a 14 inch RTGG. There are also several bichirs.

One of the little GTs is becoming dominant and the submisive one is hiding most of the time, but does come out for food....so I would like to add them to the main tank sooner than later because 29 gallons is starting to look pretty small for them.

I think the little GTs have both outgrown being eaten by my bichirs so I am mostly concerned with the GT or RTGG taking them out. The RTGG is pretty focused on the 7 inch GT and harrasses her every chance he gets. Thats the main reason I wanted to add something else to divert his attention.

I have some driftwood, but not really much in the way of hiding spots, but the tank is big enough they should be able to get away...if they are fast enough.

I am assuming adding both of them at the same time would be best so the aggression would be split between them.

And I suppose I could just throw them to the lions and cross my fingers, but I would rather get some opinions first.

Should I add them both now or beef them up for another month or two? Or should I just add 1 now and the other in a few months after getting beefed up a little more?

What is an RTGG?

red tail giant gourami. he beats up on the green terror...but isnt overly brutal. and the green terror is quick enough to get away when the gourami is having a fit.

basically, the RTGG acts like a large oscar or something along those lines. really not too aggressive.

and, i did post this in cichlids because i guess i am just trying to figure out if GTs that small can handle themselves with largers cichlids and if they should be added at the same time or one at a time.

Well with cichlids it's always a risk because larger cichlid have a tendency eat thing that fit in there mouth. I lost a gt to a Oscar slightly lager than himself because he tried to eat it. If the tank has enough hiding places I'd just toss em in but be aware they will be at a disadvantage because they are new in another fishes territory. Rearrange the decor then add them

they are too big to fit in anyone's mouth...but...yeah...i guess i should wait until they are a little bigger. but adding them at the same time would be the best idea, right?
