Giant Gourami Grow Out Thread

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I had one and it got two feet long, the problem I had was when I wanted to get rid of it nobody wanted it. I have a nice male red tail now I like it because its not growing as fast or as big as the albino it is in a 425 gallon tank.

Great pictures, I love the ones that progress from juvie fish to more adult stages. Do you know the sex of the fish and when they will show mating behaviour?

Dead fish is not generally something they would enjoy in the first place - They eat all kinds of fruits, veggies, fish foods, all kinds of meats, and leftover foods (pastas, pizzas, you name it)

Not really dead you know. Fillet tilapia hehe. Other foods would be accepted except for veggies. That's only mine haha.

I also planned to get rid of them before but then 4 out of 7 fishes died and I only have 3 left. 2 of them are the GGs. I must have a bigger tank :D

Can I have that giant gourami? The 2' long...? Hahaha! I got mine since I was fascinated seeing them in a video from a Chinese zoo and they look huge and majestic. Too bad, everyone thinks they look ugly when they are very beautiful and very personable.

Thanks man! I posted a thread before about GGs Gender and someone identified them for me as a male and female because they said it was about the anal fin. One is pointier.

Me too! People have told me that my fish is the fish that they saw in frying pans haha. These were my first fishes that I have taken care of with knowledge and when I started MFK. Yours looks good!

I'm planning to get one for my own. Please tell me the feeding habits,
1.How many times you feed a day
2. What do you feed
3. Water changes period
4. Tank size etc.
Thank you. :-)

1. Once a day. Feeding schedule is monday, tuesday, wednesday, friday and saturday.
2. I usually feed mine a variety but it seems to dislike frozen fish. I'm not sure why mines are very picky. They usually eat anything. Mine is feeding on OSI pellets sometimes Hikari Carnivore.
3. 1/4 percent water change usually weekly. I only have 3 fishes in that tank and my filter is not bad so it basically depends on your tank's bioload.
4. I have a 14" and a 12" GG and a 12" ornate bichir. I am still growing them out in a 5x1.5x2ft tank but you'll want to get a bigger one to start out if you want.

Notes: Thanks for your concern! Happy fish keeping! It's a really interactive and personal fish.

Hey there kapatid! Any updates??
