How about Meg, short for megalodon lol

Oh yeah hopefully that's a good thing lol. I know personally how tough it can be to keep very large catfish so I hope your experiences are positive as many contact me frustrated that they cannot succeed in keeping large catfish. Mainly due to poor water quality, and too small tanks. MOst inexperienced people believe catfish can live in anything and skimp on water quality. Cats are tough, but being naked skinned fish I actually treat them more delicately thank scaled fish.

Thank you my friend! you're the inspiration behind my catfish addiction;) Hmmm, never really name fish:p I'm open to suggestions though!!!!

Yes, it's a good thing! Haha luckily I have big plans for this guy if everything pans out correctly, if they don't, I have someone that will happily take it once the time comes. Water quality is my number one priority, especially with the bio loads catfish have. Filtration overkill and water changes is my key to success like everyone else's. I've been planning and preparing for this fish for about two months now, constantly reading and learning about it to help with my success. This is my first "big time" predatory catfish and want to do it right the first time haha.

Well I think you are starting with a good one. :) Love to see updates on this one as you keep it over the years.

I agree. Most of the ones I see people get are on the slim side and yours already looks nice and fat. I'm jealous of you and your ability to house this beast for a while, if not for life. I wish I had the space :(

Figured id give you some info on whats going on! tank temp: 78 degrees. ph: 7.3-4. Water levels are all perfect. Since he's so tiny I have him in a 10g for quarantine and he'll be there for the next two weeks or so. Filter: AC70. No heater. 80-100g rated powerhead. Two air stones, creating tons of agitation and adding lots of oxygen. Ok guys so here's what I've observed about the fish himself:) First off it's 4.5", the picture of the measuring tape is off because the tape is one the outside of the tank. Second, it's prefers to sit in the calmer water rather then in front of the powerhead(which is ok with me because that's the front if the tank). I haven't attempted to feed yet, I will try feeding bloodworms for tonight's meal. I also have sinking carnivore pellets and frozen brine shrimp I can feed later. This guy is beefier then any others I've seen at this size, which makes me happy because I don't really want to stress about a skinny fish! I'll continue to keep you posted after my feeding attempts. Also, here's a few more photos!!!:D
