hey, i have a small problem, my festea stunned herself this morning, im not sure what happened, she has no bite marks.

she shot round the tank really fast then went stiff and started twitching. I caught her in a net and floated her away from everything else for a while and she came upright and started moving the gill plates properly

I have her sectioned off in the tank and she is just floating at the top, she is upright, breathing, she is still coloured although it is not as strong as usual but she is just floating there, not really swimming around just holding position....

has she knocked herself out? do you think she will recover?

Any help would be great!!

All you can do is try to keep the stress down(keep tank lights off for a day or two) & give her really clean water. She may recover, she may not. You wouldn't be the first to lose a fish in this manner. Good luck to you, I'm hoping she pulls through.

Had a jag do that and lost him. Good luck

Had a green sunfish do this and he died. Good luck though I hope he lives festaes are really beautiful fish

Thanks for the replies, doesn't sound good if everyone fish are dying....

Why the hell did this happen, there is no current in the tank, everything else in there is fine.

There was no other fish near her when she spazzed out....I don't understand.

A perfectly healthy athlete just heals over during a basketball game and dies...if it can happen to humans it can happen to fish. **** happens...Hopefully yours will snap out of it...GL.

Check the heater. If your heater is made out of glass, sometimes glass breaks and leak the electricity out to the water. Hope that helps.

How? Should I use a multi meter in the water around the heater?

She was in the middle of the tank when it happened, nothing electrical around her, also my heaters are eheim.
