Rare Black Bass Project

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Pond is filling as we speak.

Pond is 5' wide, 7' wide, maybe a couple inches less though. The pond is deeper than it looks the water disorts it. The ledge around it is 12"-18" thick and 7"-12" deep. The ledge will be planted with cattails, rushes, ect. The lower part is 2'x3', again maybe a couple inches less. The deeper part is also a foot deep, making it 2' deep. THis will be planted with anarchis and cambomba. I am going to get some mosquitofish in a couple of days to build up a population of prey and to eat mosquito larvae. Then after the pond is cycled, hopefully the bass will be caught and ready for shipping.

Pond is approximately 280 gallons.

Would you be able to build a little cove or beach on one of the sides? It would be a nice breeding/hiding area for the gambuisa. A friend of mine had a pool with a little cove that his bass would charge at to get minnows. It was pretty cool to watch, he said it made his gambuisa stocks last longer too. He assumed it was because the bass had to hunt the minnows a little harder.

Sounds cool. Only problem is my neighbors have cats :(

But in all seriousness you should definetly get a bunch of plants for the tank. I might be able to get you a couple native plants. Not sure what they are but they look like anachris and they are huge. Text me and ill see what I can do
