720 8x3x4 1" inch thick acrylic under built?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Is there anybody that feels I can forget all this reenforcing work and just fill it to the very top with water :headbang2

Since the tank is an absolute beast anyway and seems like it is a stock thickness our industry standards seem to use?

I was on glass cages and all there tanks are 3/4 inch to 1 inch Acrylic.

Anybody know what is the worst scenario, can an acrylic tank burst creating a giant flood or injuring somebody or would it just bow like crazy?
You say it had been running for 7 years like this. I don't see why it wouldn't hold now.
Why are you questioning if it can hold together if you know it has been...

Mostly I got new information after I got the tank about the Acrylic not being thick enough and can mess up down the road. So I wanted to get ideas of other guys that have tanks like this 1 inch thick and how they held up and if they reenforced and how they did it.

I know it may seem like it's ok to fill it right up as-is because it has been set up in the past, but just think of what happens if it breaks. What will you say, "hmm, it hasn't done that before". Just because it hasn't yet doesn't give you a guarantee that you're going to have the same luck as the previous owner. Better safe than sorry IMO.

Thanks for your awesome message looks like I am gonna go with the Acrylic Squares and Weld 40#. I am also gonna lower the tower and have the tank 36-38" filled! I am gonna put those jungle vines above the water line and have a small water fall in there with giant pieces of drift wood and Anubias/Moss in there catching sun during the day. Any other ideas I would love to hear. I will try to make the lower water levels look cool and take care of the tanks future.

This guy on Ebay has these cool 3/4 inch Acrylic pieces and says he will cut it anyway i want.

So Do I tell him I need 32 1X1 inch acrylic pieces for 4 in each corner or do i need 8 1x1 inch pieces and glue 1 square in ever corner?

I was seeing that weld 42 is just weld 40 with a mixer built in. Is weld 40 easy to mix or should i spend extra and get the weld 42?

Thanks legends in advance.

I am gonna end up moving the tank to flush against another wall in my house so need to jack it up put on dollies and roll it 12 feet.

I wanted to ask if anybody could let me know how to drill the tower down 1 foot?

My buddy mentioned he can drill perfect round holes around the tower 1 foot below the water line. That's all his drill can do. Any more ideas on drilling slits instead?
