How much cash do we feed our fish?

One reason you may not be getting a "ton" of responses is...this is a pretty common thread topic. Do a search...and I think that you'll find much longer more comprehensive multi-page threads.:)

Here's an example of a food cost specific topic

Thanks buddy, i was surfing arround and the thought just came to me to see what there was for comment! its all over the map i see. as for my pond, there still littler in comparison to most, the biggest fish for now in there is the 22 inch pacu. other then that a few little oscars and some cats that will defonetly outgrow him.

WOW...that's a pretty nice-sized Pacu for a home aquarium. I have 4 Pacu at the moment...about 10" each. What are you feeding him?...and how much does he eat/day?

Also are you afraid of him busting your tank? My Pacu get startled sometimes...and then they start banging into the tank.

I breed the Mollies for my preds, and buy bulk flake from the LFS for I think 5$ for a quarter pound. The Mollies eat the flake, the babies eat Hikari first bites (3$ a packet just started and it seems like one a month). I work in the kitchen at a bar, so if I don't eat anything as my meal for the day I'll take home something for the fish (fish fillet or shrimp) that's free. I've only had one bag of flakes since I've started breeding mollies so feeding them isn't much. The main cost comes in the freeze dried brine shrimp I supplement all my fishes diet with I usually go through a bottle in 2 weeks and their 7$ a piece.

All in all not much, the breeders payed for themselves really and will technically profit from them in time, so about 20 and some change a month. I do buy rosy red feeders for my water snake, about a dozen a week.

Damn I realize for my stock I don't spend much on food really, the red wolf eats like a champ and the ornate is lazy about his feeding since I started feeding the wolf its fill and let all the rest sit by the bichir

absolutly! he is in a 1500 gallon pond in the bacement right now and never happier. when somehing startles him in there, he is competing against six inches of concrete! when he was in my 180, he was very limited for a few months and certanly hade me jump a little when he would hit the side of the tank.
