Hey guys,

Been looking for some of the Australian eeltail cats in the US for quite a while now. Have yet to spot one or run into any folks locally in Texas that know them. Specifically;

Neosilurus hyrtlii
Neosilurus ater
Neosilurus gloveri
Porochilus rendahli
Oloplotosus mariae

Any of y'all seen them in the States or Canada? Any experience or stories or pics you've got of them, I'd love to see/hear. Not really sure how to go about tracking one down either, so if you've got any tips in that regard it'd be very appreciated :) I check aquabid regularly and for-sale forums, but I'm not terribly resourceful when it comes to this sort of thing. Guessing that the combination of low demand (Hello drab looking catfish!) combined with it being an Australian fish is going to make the difficulty/price extremely high.

Thanks!

As of yesterday I have :)

I'm really curious as to how many of these cats are in the US (any of them, not just the ones I'm after). Most of the Youtube videos I see seem to be from Australians or folks in the UK.

Had tandanus tandanus years ago wish i could find another.

Many off the fish im looking for now are aussy fish and the just dont get imported i believe its because many can withstand cold temps and there is so much fear of invase species these days.

Yea, it's such a shame :(

Tandanus is my goal down the road a ways. They seem like an amazing critter. Just watch... I'll find one of the Eeltails eventually and when I do, it'll be one that I don't have the capacity for at that time, lol.

I contacted him a while back and he was only able to get the neosilurus brevidorsalis. I wanted the larger growing ones for my large tank.

Woops, I realize now that I left brevidorsalis off my OP list! When I first started looking I was focused on the ater, but really, all of those aussie cats are awesome :)

This is the video that really ramped up my interest in them. I'm a sucker for matte/velvety black color, and those blue eyes are just killer. The guy saying "reverse gear" got me pretty good when I first saw it too.
