My new NTT!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
What do you feed your datnoids? I plan on starving mines until it eats pellets.

Ive had very bad luck with baby NTT's, so far my plan is Fatten them up on feeders then offer shrimp and repeat til they take Shrimp or Frozen foods. Has worked two smaller 2" NTT and shows promise with New NTT's

Very good catch. Thick bars NTT. Any aggression shown to other tankmates?

Thanks, the only tankmates it has currently are 4 clown loaches and so far it has not attacked any of them and minds its own business. I want to add more datnoids but I am not sure if they will get along. It is stable almost all the time right now and I do not want to add anything into the tank that will cause it to turn black.

What size of your fishes now? If you want to add datnioides, please add around your tankmates size to reduce aggression but you have to prepare that they are predatory and territorial fishes so fights are sometimes inevitable.

There are a variety of datnioides to add. Which breed you intend to add? Don't try live feeders for them as had several casualties feeding them feeders. Advisable to feed only market prawns in supermarket.

All of of my fish are around 4 inches right now. I want to add some more NTT and some IT but I always see unstable IT everywhere I go, how do you guys have IT that are so gold? Is it the individual fish or does it have something to do with how the tank is setup?

To make the IT stable, there are few ways to try.

a) Lower nitrate level with regular WC
b) Get fierce fishes like oscars, pb.
c) Strong light
d) Salt

All the above, I had tried and work fine for me. You can give a shot.:)

Thanks I will try that out but why do you say strong light? From what I noticed datnoids seem to be more stable when the lights are dim or off.

Very nice pick up

Thanks!
