A truly once in a life time event happened when i went fishing today. I was using my livetarget mouse and i made a cast. I was twitching it and out of nowhere a hawk scoops down and grabs it started flying away with it and i give it a little tug and the hawk let go. I could not believe what just happened and i highly doubt it will ever happen again

Was about to call it a day and I decided to catch my rapala original topwater out one time. I added a trailer hook just because I kept losing fish on it. So im reeling in and I see a ripple in the water and then bam my lure goes completely underwater with no sight of it. My line gets pulled out crazy far. And then I tighten my spool and reel in as close as I can and then I see a white stomach. I honestly thought it was a huge snapping turtle. And then I just see this huge bass. I kid you not this thing could have fit my head in its mouth. It measured out at 24" 1/4" and my scale went to 8 lbs but then it was glitching out and going all over the place. Then I decided to call it an 8. 6 cars stopped to see it. A bunch of fisherman ran around the lake to see it. I was told its the biggest bass they have ever seen before. Then one guy I was talking to before asked how much it weighed. Then I told him it said 8. He said that is a huge bass definetly over 8. U would have to see it in person to see how big it actually was. This is the biggest bass ive ever seen in my life. It was caught on wooddale county parks small pond. Anyways here are the pictures. Forgive the quality the guy I had take them had an unsteady hand

Sweet catch but just doesnt do it for me since its on a pond like that. Reminds me of the youtube video where the guy catches the "biggest" northern ever caught on a kyack or something but its on a private pond where they feed it trout so it grows insanely fast and large. Im not saying thats how this is but it just doesnt quite give me the awe as catching it on a well known lake.

Nontheless biggest bass ive ever seen and I would love to be able to catch a bass that large

Thanks and I guess the bass got fat because the pond has a bunch of sunfish. And I have only caught a few bass on this pond. But I guess this was just a once in a lifetime bass. I swear if I ever catch this bass again I am taking it home. My moms fiance showed the picture to his friend who is a taxidermist and he said that he has a license to give awards and trophy scores and apparantly if I would have kept it I could have gotten promotions for whatever equipment I used. And I was so pissed off when I was told that. I regret putting him back in for the fact that someone else may catch him before I do. But I plan on catching him again. If I can't catch him I want to catch some lake monsters at some lakes in upstate ny

wow thats pretty cool. Good luck catching him again!

Great catch Andrew, it's good you put him back, it sucks that people always have to kill the biggest fish.
