Largest Odoe Pike I've Ever Seen Now In My Tank

The seller said it was 18-20" so I rushed over there to pick it up.

Turns out it was closer to 16-17" but thicker than a soda can.

It's now in the tank with my 18-22" atlantic tarpons, nile perch, armatus, big bichirs and cats, etc.

I read online that these fish only live 5 years or so...anyone know if that's true?

I kind of doubt that though...seller said he had it for about 6 years.

Wow!!...amazing pick up....these guys are extremely rare at that size. I seen a trio of 15'inchers someone traded in at a lfs and that was the largest I've seen.
 
An Odoe that big and no pics with a tape to verify???? :(

I knew they could get bigger then lead on here...... :)

Makes we wonder how big ATF can get in a tank if there's Odoe like this swimming around..... :ROFL:

If I hold a tape measure to the tank, the fish just swims away...no need to use a tape measure to see that it's really big.

If you do want to see a picture with a tape measure, I accept PayPal, Visa and AMEX...
 
Thanks for posting. He looks nice and thick but hard to get a feel of just how large he is. I'd guess they live much longer than 5 yrs with good care.

Pm me you paypal. I'll send you a few bucks, although considering what's been sent your way in the past I wouldn't really think it necessary, but I guess a couple bucks is a couple bucks.

I know I wouldn't fish anything out of my tanks and tape it for a couple bucks, but then again I usually tape most stuff upon acclimation just to kind of keep track of who's growing how much.

It's an impressive fish regardless of what it measures. Just funny how people tend to over exaggerate sizes when it comes to fish.
