The real full grown monster fish thread... could you house these? didn't think so!-)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Some one should start a thread of the biggest fish according to the specie...on MFK.

I would of start a thread but Im not good would putting all the pics into one thread and stuff.. A thread of only fish that mfk keeps and with a pic of them...with a ruler on the outside of the tank.

Just so some members can have bragging rights lmao as I bet I have the biggest orange head geo at a monster 3 inches!!! Lmao jk...anybody think the same?

Would be interesting to see how many "record breakers" we actually have around here vs what everyone "claims" to have. I know there are a few giant slurking behind the scene....

i think thats a great idea, 'ive got the biggest on mfk!' would be a good title, measured only when disputed!-)

Im willing to start it...but feel that football in school approaching and school I will get lazy to update since I have a good feeling a thread like that will take off.

Would be nice to actually post a thread in each section.... so thats how the people who only look in thier fish thread like stingrays....may end up avoiding the general discussion where the thread would probably be best located.

Tell me what you guys think.

Defiantly going to get a headache when everyone fights to see who has the biggest cichlid... I might make a trial run on one of the threads tho...was thinking of starting one in the stingray section since thiers usually a lot of members who view it. Then when we have one sorted out as "Ive got the biggest on mfk".

Also I think the ray section is a good starting spot since I think thier is defintly less then 20 species of rays kept on mfk including the cross breeds.

What do you guys think??

Also your opinion monstermini since you noticed my idea lol as well

i think a general discussion thread would be best, mainly to keep the thread moving... you will need to write up some strict and clear instructions on the first post and we need to rally up some members who have known big fish to get it started. mel o has a monster 24inch plus dovii, the guy that has three monster snakeheads, well two now as one died, erm some of the groups like the festae group should have some monsters... i think like this thread would be best exact fish related so post your monster betta on a tape measure then another guy whenever adds a bigger one... a weekly tally up showing top five of any species entered would be good. would also tempt people into keeping fish longer and treating them better if they are competitive, sounds great!-)

anyone else know any members with monsters of their species before we start?

Yes that is something that concerns me about keeping "monster" species in aquaria, but that is another thread....

One thing to remember with these angling pictures is that it is common practice to hold the fish away from the body to make it appear larger;

Surprised there isn't more aro pics in here. This is one I saved off an old forum years ago, I've long forgotten where it was taken or who the guy is, but the thickness of the big silver compared to his head has always impressed me. It must nearly be a foot tall, good luck keeping that in the "minimum" 8x3x2' tank we so often talk about...

And here's another random pic from my hard-drive, again source unknown sorry (probably found it on here!), Polypterus bichir bichir, wild caught obviously...
