90 gallon stand in trouble! Need help!

I would say look at some of those DIY thread and even if you can't built a stand from the beginning just reinforce the stand you have.. That is exactly what I would do, You don't need to built a whole new stand you can just reinforce it with some 2x4's... Get you a few 2x4's some 3' deck screws and run a piece of wood across the top of the stand where the tank sits and then run some from the bottom of that to the floor on each side.. It really is easy to do and will work well for about $30.....

To add onto that, you could also add the styrofoam for another $5-10 if you feel the weight is not evenly distributed.

It is really pretty simple to construct a very overbuilt stand, especially with some of the layouts you could just pick up from DIY threads here.

Sounds good guys! I went back and looked at this steel shelving that I thought was going to work and the inside measurement of the metal beam where the tank would sit, which was suppose to be 48", was actually 47 1/2". Besides the bottom frame of the 90 gallon is 48 1/2". I am going to reinforce the stand I have. I have a friend of mine who's a contractor and he looked at it and said pretty much what you guys said. Bunch of 2x4's and some screw. Just reinforcing and pretty much building a new frame on the inside. Seems pretty fool proof! I'll check out some of the DIY stuff. I built a stand for a 30 gallon once that turned out fairly okay. I think I can do it again. Just worried about it a little more cause 90 gallons is a bit bigger than 30. Any more input is still appreciated. Thanks again!

This is what the inside of my 90 gallon stand looks like now. Six 2"x2" joists running from the top of the stand down to the floor. The inside frame at the top had 2"x2"s all around it. All the pieces were glued a bit and screwed into the old frame. A guy at my church who is a contractor surprised me with this and did the reinforcing for me. Think she'll hold now? And will this be a fairly permanent fix? or do I need to add some more support? Like a couple more 2x4 joists? Had I done it I would have used 2x4's as joists and not 2x2's. I was thinking of putting the tank back on the stand today... Thoughts?
