my new cat + update the paroons tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i'm really sad :( this is the 2 walking cat fish that i lose because of the paroon they ate a 15-17cm walking cat fish this month but this one i thought its really really big for them they tried but the failed to eat it but sadly that cost the fish its life :(

This is not uncommon at all with large predatory catfish -- they will digest what they can get into their stomach and spit out what they cannot get in, because the prey (another catfish in this case) locked in its pectoral fin spines and would never fit into the predator's mouth that way. Happens left and right... to me too: http://www.planetcatfish.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=38993.

That's why we keep saying that if a fish fits in a cat's mouth even remotely (girth-wise, not length-wise as in my analogy with a subway sandwich in your other thread), it is at risk. And when the cat is known to be voraciously predatory and the enclosure is so tiny (relatively speaking), it becomes almost a certainty that the smaller one will get eaten or half-eaten.

i'm trying to make a fish room in my garage the only space i got !! if i success there will be a 300-400 gallon tank for them

if 10" cat doesn't work !! what fish can i put with them !! goldfish !!!
Have not you already provided an answer to your question? You have a 20" Clarias batrachus in there that appears fine so far. That's the kind you put in with them. Yes, a 2'+ carp could work, the world biggest goldfish at 1.5' would still become a meal I think ........................ even though every one advises you to not have any other fish in with your paroons, both for the predation and bio-filtration/water quality reasons.

the water is really fine but those fishes are really really monster you need a tough fish to survive there !!
