Hi,

the hole is getting bigger and i am fearing the safety of my other fish....

should i pull this gt, send him to the river in the sky continue with the metro food treatment and hope that nothing else gets infected?

You can use garlic supplement in liquid form. Just add to food.

Vitamins also come in liquid form.

If you only have 25 tablets left and can't get more, then adding metro to the water column is not an option for you. Do suck out the poop daily. Big water changes 50% every 2/3 days. If they are feeding daily, then use the metro in food/vitamin/garlic combo everyday for two weeks. Clean out anything they don't eat immediately as not to foul the water.

I managed to get some of this: http://www.seachem.com/Products/product_pages/GarlicGuard.html

should i use this to soak the food instead of water?

I mean when i crush the metro, into powder should i just add the garlic solution and no water then soak the food in that? also how much water/garlic should i be adding to the bowl for the food to soak in? more water will be less concentrated wont it?

The fish is healing. That is the scar that will unfortunatly will remain behind. It may get smaller over time but it's looking much better. Follow the full corse of treatment.

So will it ever close up again or will he be like this for good?

Like I said it will heal and get smaller over time but most likely will always be visible to some extent. The fish is definatly getting better.

Hi there, I have noticed that his face seems to be caving in around the hole that formed...is that normal healing process?

Thanks

I would say if his face is caving in, no not normal. Picture?

That's hex the first round of treatment didn't get it. Do a large water change 50% dose with salt at 1 tablspoon per 5 gallons soak food in metro for about 15-20 mins and feed to fish. Do another course of treatment. It can be stubborn at times. I'm trying to help you save your fish, I'm not a doctor so you can use what I say or not at your discretion.

How are the rest of your water perameters? Have you cleaned your filter recently? Are you vacuming your substrate with every water change? How old is the Metro you're using?

Edit: Do another complete round of treatment, with the metro soke the food in one tablet and feed it. Keep an eye out for any sign of a secondary infection or fungas the salt and clean water should help with this.

Tom is trying to help & has been with you throughout this whole ordeal. He didn't have to. I understand how you feel. I truly do. I have lost several fish to Hex throughout the years & have saved many. Sometimes with all the right information/treatment, things get worse. Based on the pictures, I would put him to sleep. You can google it for specific instructions but basically you put the fish to sleep using clove oil (emulsified) & then use vodka. It is the most HUMANE way of putting fish to sleep. Of course, this a PERSONAL choice. I remember when I first put down my fish, it was gut wrenching because I loved that particular fish. He was part of the family. What made me pull through is that I did everything reasonable to save it. You are a caring fishkeeper & have tried treating your fish. You win some, you lose some --you learn from your experience(s). Now if you want to continue the treatment follow Tom's advice, LARGE water changes, add aquarium salt, and keep the aquarium as clean as possible. And I too wonder about the water parameters. A large water change does not equate to good water parameters.
