Biggest small mouth bass you've ever caught?

Its ok to tell people things, its up to them to internalize it. But i wont judge you, i cant judge you.

Peace be with you.
I can smell the bass being cooking in the grill already. It's just a legal fish that can be harvested. What the people do is their business, not your business. Fishing is supposed to be happy memories with your loved ones and enjoying the delicious fried fish dinner and a cold beer.

Keeping large bass on a regular basis in publically fished waters is an inconsiderate thing to do and generally the people who do it fall in to one of three categories, poor, ignorant, or douches. Draining a resource for your own benefit at the detriment of a fishery for others is just not cool.

That being said it is not illegal to keep big bass in most states, and if done properly it will not have a major impact on an ecosystem. I am not going to have a heart attack if I see an 8lb bass being kept out of a large lake. I don't have to like it, but it is what it is. Somebody pulling an 8lb bass out of a 1 acre farm pond however, is not cool.

It's all situational but this is my point at the end of the day. The fish populations need fishermen like nick and redear as well as fishermen like Rebel. If everybody wanted to release every bass they ever caught, fisheries will end up stunted without enough of a food supply due to other anglers keeping panfish and other food sources for the bass. If everybody was like rebel, there'd be a shortage of bass in general as the big breeders would be gone. It's all a balancing act.

Personally I would love to see a bass slot limit similar to the red drum limitations at the coast. A slot of 12-18" would ensure anglers that wanted to keep their catch the ability to keep some quality meat for the table without keeping big breeders and ruining it for everybody.

Makes a lot of sense.

That makes perfect sense. Very well put. In the area I live the EPO officers dont even go around checking licenses or anything so I see people catching 10-20 bass and keeping every single one. Small and large. And it just pisses me right off. And I see people doing the same with trout. We have a 5 trout or 5 lb limit yet again no one enforces it here. It really bothers me. We had a problem a couole years back. Their was a bunch of guys ice fishing and they were catching hundreds and hundreds of trout through the ice and were throwing them in dump trucks and hauling them to new york to sell at fish markets. Thank god they were arrested and lost all rights to ever having a fishing license again. But people now a days just dont care.

I think it's better to keep larger basses from Rivers (tho they usually more case for pollution) than smaller lakes and ponds because the numbers of larger basses are so much lower in small enclosed bodies of water. It's a mix of thinking, common sense, and choice.

pS. NIck, im glad im not the only one who bites his rod like that

Also i support to both the keeping of fish and proper release, just finds what fits your needs and the fish needs

and... when you want to support your opinions, it's best not to push it down people's throat. It only gets people more mad and they will instead oppose your opinion more. State your opinion and if you want it to be taken seriously, then add facts to back you up. If they do not listen right away, then you rage inside your head, i'm sure everyone will get your message on these boards, most users are generally smart
