Mice Ate My Fish Food :(

I live in a farm so it's a constant battle for me. Best combo I've found is setting 20-30 traps so there is one every where you can think a mouse might pass and then set up several Tomcat mouse poison hotels. A lot of the time the mouse is dead so quickly they never make it back out of the box so you don't have to hunt for dead bodies so much. Use a high quality dehydrating poison as well, the mice will seek water making them easier to find plus it dries them up so they don't stink. After the mice seem to be all gone, keep the trap line and poison out so any new comers are quickly dealt with.

aclockwork, I wouldn't use any poisons. sounds like your cats are all slackers, but they'd imagine themselves as gladiators for chewing on the dead mice.

Make sure they don't aren't chewing on the pump/heater wires or anything like that could bring down the system.!

And definitely make sure they cannot spread into your home and in your walls.

And why not soak some fish food in arsenic or something toxic and let them kill themselves.?

What happened with the mice? BTW, your puppy may not respond well to an ultrasonic repeller if he's in your garage or near it with the doors open.

Traps or setting up an ambush will be best. Open poison or the possibility of poisoned rodents around your pets is not a great idea. There is also the potential for them to die off inside a wall and you really don't want that. Speaking as someone who has done pest control in the past. Glue traps are an option but if they are not stuck well they could walk off with it or tear themselves apart. Then you have a sticky mess for a pet or wife to find.
