Yeah, I still keep bass!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
True cichla keepers are in it to stay.
Its not a fad for some of us.
It obviously is for others. They gotta keep the "rarest" bass or they arent cool enough.
This I dont agree with. BUt to each their own.
That type of fish keeping is for the trendy ones and posers.

WOuld have loved to see you take bass to the pond level Ken.

Welcome back brother. And I agree. I'm no where near where you guys are in the cichla game but to compare it to Datnoids, which I have many of, I don't keep them because they're cool, I keep them because I like them. There may not be as many species, but they all have different bars. Just because there aren't any "rare" bass available, doesn't mean you should get rid of the ones you have.

I'm in the cichla game to have one of each different variant ( eventually) when I have the space. Unless I am really hard up for money what I have is here to stay. As of right now I have a Kel, Orino, Azul, and Xingu and that's fine with me. If I can get more great, if not I'm fine with what I have :)

You got me all wrong G.
I wasn't here yesterday and gone today like many CREAM guys. Been here longer than many.
It's not a fad or flavor of the day for me. I buy what's available and I only purchased cichla twice. Once when the first Broko and Bahia came in and again when the first F1 xingus can in. Bought all of them at 1.5" and raised them to 16". Never sold or killed one over the four years.
Never been about keeping the rarest or being cool. I tell you what it's about. It's about learning from others and sharing. Raising the bass the best you know how and making it better. And most important teaching the ones that want to learn. I've never kept any secrets about filtration or feeding. You can see I don't have a big tank with fancy lights. I share pictures weekly not to show off (well maybe a little) but to show progress.

If no one kept nice bass, I don't think you will have much people here looking or interested. Many past members were very inspiring which got me in the hobby, would you consider them posers?

As far as taking it to the pond, well this is not Singapore. Just a fad.

And I enjoy all the info you have shared Ken.
YOu have helped take the hobby to the next level in filtration.
Sad to see you leave so soon.
Look forward to your masheer updates.
Make sure you keep pokin your head around in here.

Whats next for your tanks?

So few OGs will be left. I'm going to say just Gangster and Hu. Gangster may end up as the godfather.

P.S. I've had a couple
