Maybe it's a different breed or going thru color changes. I've heard somewhere that red bellies start to become more silverish yellow when they get older.

I heard that its a black pacu and that blacks from certain collection points turn yellow.

You have to be kidding me! I came upon one very similar last night and was going to post the same thread this morning. I came across a video where several were caught in Paraguay. I think it may be a unique species.
