Your Opinion on the Best Virus Protection for Pc

Honestly, antivirus is dead. It provides you very little protection. I demonstrate to clients how I can get them to click a link and bypass their AV. They may get a message saying a virus was detected, but it only caught the wrapper. Meanwhile I have shell on their box.

You still need an AV to catch all the basic viruses /malware. Just pick something free like Avast or AVG. You also need to keep your systems patched. Especially java and Adobe. Make sure your browser is up to date.

Learn to be smart in how you surf. Don't click on stuff!!! Even links in forums like this can get you pwned.

And sorry... Linux and Mac's can easily be comprised too.

Just takes more time/clicks to get to where I want on repairing stuff. Probably great for users, not so good for people fixing them.

And yeah, don't a huge change fan ... but 7 was/is great (it pains me to admit that). I don't have a smart phone, so that might be part of it too. That front screen is a waste of time to me, and missing the start button drives me nuts.

All new OS' have software issues when they first come out though, so I don't hold that against 8.

I thought that too until I got into it and found where everything was hiding. If you are used to a smart phone/Ipod setup it gets really easy and then add in a touch screen, simplicity. If you're really stuck on the original look, there are plenty of third party apps just for that purpose.

Yeah, that's what I'll do once games start requiring windows 8 ... I'm one of those that clings to the OS that works until the new programs I need require an upgrade. I think part of that is working on customer comps all day long, searching for things because people put them in strange things ... I'm just particular about my home comp. Even 7 irks me sometimes with what it does with certain programs ... no OS will be perfect, unless I code one myself.

I like Webroot secureanywhere, they have the best spyware detection and removal in the business and one of the best anti-virus and system cleaners.

this is the second new computer with windows and internet explorer that causes me to lose Adobe flash player.. i have had to go back in time and add the older version since it is not compatable after they upgrade the adobe flash player... why would they not figure out this before they upgrade it..i have installed the flash player and after i complete the download it just tells me to install it again.. i can call because i am on warrenty etc.. but just curious if you know how and why this happens and what to do about it other then going to another software program ..

Elizabeth, what kind of error code are you getting , (there should be some kind of message most of the time with numbers) you could have a corrupted dll file or another program is using the same file that adobe wants to use causing an error.

Are you actually still using internet explorer Liz???? If so, download Chrome, Firefox, or Opera asap. It has all sorts of issues, it's just a badly written program. Probably Microsoft's worst one.

put Fox in.so far i like it.. i can see my videos again..wooo hooo.. although pc is a little slower... now just have to change a few things.. thanks ..
