  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
thanks very much Chris. i will skip that one..

No prob. I've fixed way to many comps that use avast, avg, and mcaffee to let anyone I like use them. ;)

And yes, fixing comps and virus removal is the day job.

I've never really had a problem with avg but what do you recommend?

Ccleaner
Malware - bytes
Spybot
Avast

Avast for everyday, the rest is just a run monthly or if avast picks anything up. I haven't had a virus in years(5+)

Free- Microsoft Security Essentials
Paid, no-low comp experience - Norton 360 ( ONLY if you have at least 8GB of RAM and a 2nd gen Intel processor or better)
Paid, good comp experience - Kaspersky (same stats as above)

Every comp should have malwarebytes and ccleaner on it though as added protection.

Don't recommend Kaspersky if you're running Windows 8/

Well, I don't recommend Windows 8 ... but that's a whole 'nother thread.

Spoken like someone who doesn't like change. Works great once you get into it and stop freaking out about the differences. It just seems to have some compatibility issues with some software, particularly older stuff.

This is because mac has a 10% market share so it isn't worth the time to write a virus not that a virus couldn't be written but keep serving koolaid and getting peole to join your cult a nd in time you'll find out they are every bit a susceptible to a virus as a pc.

Just takes more time/clicks to get to where I want on repairing stuff. Probably great for users, not so good for people fixing them.

And yeah, don't a huge change fan ... but 7 was/is great (it pains me to admit that). I don't have a smart phone, so that might be part of it too. That front screen is a waste of time to me, and missing the start button drives me nuts.

All new OS' have software issues when they first come out though, so I don't hold that against 8.
