This way the water flow pushes the media to the bubbler and the air pushes it back up stream. My tank had allot of flow in the sump but my friend does it the same with his.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding things, but I thought the whole point of using air to boil a moving bed was to create an oxygen rich environment for the media?
I agree it doesn't look like enough media or air.......
Just like a fish tank everyone sets these things up differently. Is there a "right" way and a "wrong" way? Probably not, it's all a matter of opinion, cause in reality anything, anyway will probably get you by.
IF you really want to use the stuff like it's meant to be used then contact the company or the place you bought it from. I'd take that advice any day over a forum I've been listening to people on this forum tell me water makes no difference with rays for years, yet when a guy that's published information on freshwater ray care caught wind of some of my water parameters he couldn't believe I have even been able to keep rays alive. Forums can be a great source of info BUT they can also be a public display of the blind leading the blind.
Put your air stones together in the middle of the tank and remove the power head. It is not needed on that side if you want to keep it in the tank move to the other side of the divider. The power head might be what not allowing the k1 to cycle around the area like it should.
Very little O2 is absorbed from the bubbles. The bubbles cause surface agitation where the water absorbs the O2. The pump I use does the same thing but I feel much better. It is a 1100 GPH pump pointing straight at the surface. The K1 rolls, that's what matters.

If op put his pump in the middle like yours it would roll better but it looks all the different directions the water is being pushed it doesn't allow it to roll properly.
