Nice cichla Lucas! My wife & I may be going to Region of Lakes near Rio for Christmas & New Years. What do you know about it there?
To be honest, I dont know much about Rio. Sorry.
The only thing I can tell is what you may know, their beaches are beautiful.
And forget about that stereotype of dangerous Rio, actually all my friends that went right there said that its calm, and that stereotype is a lie.
And about Cichlas, never heard about them there. Heard many times of them in Paraná, Minas Gerais or São Paulo, but never on Rio.

May be. Speaking for my city:
You shouldnt walk on the streets showing money of cellphones or whatever of much value. Specific places are worst, principally close to favelas (ghettos). It is a general rule, for tourists and even native people.
Restaurant, shoppings, and any other place is fine!
But I think Lakes region seens to be one village, a small city. Here in my state, villages and small cities are very secure. Its like violence still didnt come there.
I want to scare nobody, but unfortunately its the true of my country.
