450 gallon disappointment lol

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well I put my guinea pig fish in to see if they would survive. It appears everything is well. They've been in there for a few hours and racing around like crazy. I will probably add the loaches tomorrow if everything is still going well. I will add the bruisers all next weekend, and probably transfer my DIY LEDs over as well as the sand in that tank and all the décor.

This idea didn't last long. I transferred all my fish and décor over today. It took me about 6 hours and I'm exhausted lol. Catching my two Bifas took 2 hours alone. They are by far the quickest, most powerful fish that I have seen. The large Bifa bent my 12" net and barely fit in it. I thought she was only about 10" but I guess I was wrong! I'll update with a video and some pics soon when the water clears up.

It's still cloudy, not 'scaped, and the wrong lighting (some cheap fluorescents) but I couldn't help but take a pic. It feels so good to get a lot done without a hiccup for once.

I did some aquascaping a bit today until I got bit... All of the same fish were transferred and used to share 180g in harmony. Now that they have a tank+sump volume of almost 3 times that, two fish have claimed 80% of the tank as theirs (even from me) trying to breed. I'll never understand them.

Note that every single fish including the plecos, rainbows, loaches, and other cichlids is in approximately 20-25% of the right side. LOL

Looks great! Loving the scape. Nicely done!

Thanks. It would have been a little better if I hadn't gotten chomped so much. He waits for my hand to enter the water so he can strike. Normally they don't show me any aggression at all, but they're nasty right now. They've drastically changed colors in the last 24 hours too. Normally their heads are a deep purple/red and it's almost white right now... breeding dress I guess. The big piece of wood on the right is super buoyant and requires 20+lbs of rocks to sink it too. I hope it will sink within a couple months so I can stand it up a little. I should also have my LEDs suspended over the tank by the end of the weekend and that should improve the look quite a bit too.
