Building a chinchilla cage

I wonder what would happen if... nah never mind- the poor chinchilla would probably OD.
 
my female turned nasty after she had babies. I went off to college and my mom put the female with babies in another cage. I could then no longer put her in with my male and other female again after she raised the babies. I had a trio (1 male 2 female). What a mess. I would not recommend breeding them as you said you want a lady friend. If you already worry about letting out one to play, how's it going to work with momma chin, daddy chin and 4 babies needing daily exercise. Then you need to find good homes and those are hard to come by. Ugh... my female also had behavior issues after having kits, like standing on her hind legs and spraying me with pee. I'd keep your one chin just build a mansion. I had a 5 story tall cage made out of pine and they chewed it up pretty good.

LOL.

I would try building it a big, natural cage. It would be interesting to see what they do when provided with something resembling their natural habitats.

could do it all natural with maybe a lil water feature but with the chinchilla

No water feature. You aren't supposed to get chinchillas wet. It stresses them which can kill them. Same reason as they aren't supposed to have water bowls.

My girlfriend has hers in a large Ferret nation cage. It works great!

was thinking an encased waterfall, but ur telling me chinchillas never experience rain? but I agree a mountain theme would be cool.
