I was wondering about the international laws on piranha keeping, such as tropical regions in Asia and in others. Post what you know about your country's piranha legality status, and it would be useful to know about the different regions within as well. links are greatly appreciated.

Piranhas are a big NO here in the Philippines, actually it's because it only has a bad reputation of 'eating humans' in hollywood films, and the government actually believes that... Flying piranhas, I really love this gold but old sayin,

"It's climbing in yo windows, it's snatchin yo people up, try to rape em, sooooo~~ Hide yo kids, Hide yo wife, bluh blah yada yada"

if you're too lazy to click on my awesome link, here's the list

Australia
Germany
Indonesia
Mainland China
Mexico
Malaysia
Philippines
Thailand
Vietnam

well i can see why they're banned in most of these places places, they'd have no trouble surviving an accidental or intentional release in all of those countries except possibly germany and northern china and they are effective invasives where they thrive

usually the places where water gets about 5-10 C have no danger from piranha. Piranha cant survive in 5 -10 C water more than few hours.
Duh!

Hi here is a link to Australian noxious fish This is for the state of NSW but I'm pretty sure this is the list for Australia. I'm pro the laws but wish there was a way of getting a permit. across Australia if you get a swimming pool you have to get a permit and this includes a safety inspection for appropriate fencing. I want a permit for piranha for Christmas. I've been good...
