What Fish would you want to keep in the apocalypse?

There was a thread on this subject a long time ago. Most started with tilapia but it was later argued that there were easier fish to raise as food...but I can't remember the other fish.

I second bluegill, hardy, fast and plentiful breeding, and they are native throughout a good portion of the us so dirty unheated water works great, and they taste pretty darn good.

common carp pretty easy and hardy as a food, but I would keep a moat around me full if electric eels for defence and security.

Lol@convict. Itd take a year until they were edible size (even then you must eat them whole). You'd be eating fish tic tacs up until then.

That's true but so will any other fish listed they might get bigger but it will take them longer to get there. Atleast with cons they breed in mass amounts readily. So their will a steady supply of food.

I get frustrated with their growth to feed my piranhas so I can already see my frustration with needing to feed myself. Guess I'd just boil the fry into stew

Isn't the growth rate in the first year relative to their most fish adult size?

If you are going to have a moat then you might as well have a Doomsday Castle.

Then that would be a waste of food. I've had grow farely quickly. But I suppose that's is with steady water changes and good food
