Anyone watch thier conductivity numbers?

Posted this in my thread already thought id add it here also. Straight well water is 713ppm and 1432 conductivity. After home water softener is 723ppm and 1446 conductivity. My tank is 480ppm and 960 conductivity because I'm cutting it with RODI water.

I had some technical difficulties when I went to rebuild the filter and add the UVs..... Was supposed to take 2 days and ended up taking almost 2 months. :( Wanted to wait a few weeks after moving all the bio to fire up the UVs, and am still kinda waiting for things to settle before messing with the water too much.

Currently sitting around 500 Microsiemens and falling slowly.

Is your meter have a multiplier or anything??? 57 sounds crazy low, never even mind the .9 :nilly: My straight RO tests half that (the 57) on its best days.... :cry:

Nope. I need to make some RO for reef tank. I should test that to see what the conductivity is. My numbers do seem really low though.

I've gotten numbers from Mike (Fishdog) and his numbers are crazy friggin low too....

Thanks for taking the time to measure and share with me. I just really hope this is the issue I've been after all these years. Sure feel stupid for not doing something about it a long time ago.

I'd love to know RO numbers, but with numbers like you're talking I'm not sure the RO would even be needed..... lol. I've seen my RO read as high as 47 microsiemens and even pure RO here has higher then normal PH. I think the water is so bad that despite the RO reading 1-3 PPM TDS it still reads pretty high for PH and conductivity, almost like it's stained..... lol.
 
Mr. Webber recommended American Marine Meters. I picked up a conductivity meter from them and am happy with it. Think they have TDS too, but thought I remember being told conductivity is more accurate? But could be wrong?
 
There are quite a few T.O.C. meters out there that will serve your purpose, but no matter what meter you use, it will only ever be as good as your calibration solution. I calibrate a lot of these for a living and good solution is a must. The other important thing with the probe, is that it needs to remain clean in order to constantly give you accurate readings. If not, the meter won't do you much good. If you want to get a good meter, they aren't cheap, but they will usually chart your tanks conductivity and also allow you to read temperature and resistivity. I am just curious if any has definitively said how many microsiemens your tank should be at, and if it was stated in the thread, I appologize.
 
DB hows everything goin? Numbers comming down still?

I have 2 pups that wont eat. Im wondering if it has to do with my tds...

My tanks seem to hover around 700. I quit messing with the RO for now, as I have to figure out how to incorporate settling vats and modify sumps. I just lost a pup (one that was born 2 weeks ago) when moving from the big system to the pup tank. Not sure what was up with the pup was born huge and really fat but just always sat there. Appeared to have started shedding its slime coat and I decided to move. Dead within 12 hours of moving. Big tank tested 680 and pup tank tested 930 (microsiemens) not sure IF I shocked the lil bugger or not but he didn't seem quite right. Was his mom's first litter and only pup. :(
