Well, after looking around a while I finally found some Escondido's. Wet Spot in Portland Oregon had some. After asking around and hearing some pretty good things about them
I went ahead and ordered a group of 10 1.5 inchers. The ones that showed up are actually closer to 2 to 2.5 inches long.

Not The best lighting but gives you an idea. At 2 inches they are already showing some pretty decent markings.

They are still pretty small, but I am hoping to end up with a NICE looking pair out of the group. There are a few that are already showing some really nice
color and pattern.

Awesome find !!! Can't wait to see th growout and possibly obtain a pair myself:) also the pea gravel will do wonders for them compared to what's in there now;)

When I got my 10, they were about the size you have, probably a bit smaller.
Took about a year for mine to grow into mature enough adults to start pairing up, but once they hit maturity the transformation happened fast. Just before spawning my large male killed off his rivals, and the female did in many of female hers.

I am making dividers tomorrow, hoping to catch pairs when they form. IF (capital IF) I can then I am planning on separating the pairs from the rest of the group. Then pick the best looking male and female and once I know they are viable then will sell what ever I have left.

Great looking group of fry. One of my favorite fish. As Duanes mentioned, they get really nasty with each other. Unless it's a huge tank use dividers and even in a huge tank the dominate male will eventually kill any females. Everything will look fine and one morning you will get up to your female completely descaled. They get along pretty well with other non herichthys. I've even had good luck keeping multiple males together as long as no female is present. Be warned that for whatever reason the males seem to have a soft spot for amphilophus females. All of my males over the years have spawned with different types of amphilophus. Even had one that crossed with an rtm female in a very busy community tank.

They look great.
They are all Carpintis but if you wanna get specific and down to the origin, those arent Escondidos.
None posted so far are Escondido Carpintis.
Maybe Escon x unknown origin carpinti.

Sorry if it's not what you wanna hear :)

That's right, the ones in my pics are H. carpintis location chairel

There's no way to know a collection location from looking at a fish. Any answers you get are just guesses. Looks female to me.
