7'x12' Plywood Build For My Rays

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Looks good..

What kind of epoxy are you using with the glass mat? Get a metal roller to help with air bubbles. I wish I did when I put mine down. But I had never done it before and should have researched it a bit more. Good thing my bubbles are only in the middle and there was enough epoxy down before hand that it wasn't an issue.

About 800 on the viewing window is what I paid for each of my 1" acrylic windows. Where are you getting your quotes from? I can try to dig up the receipts if you need another quote.

Thank you. After the wife and I had the chance to see your 2700 gallon I knew it was a matter of time before I started on one.

Going with Max ACR followed up with Pond Armor. White bottom and black sides. Now I am only using fiberglass in all the corners and seams, did you glass the entire tank? I will definitely look into a metal roller thanks for that one.

As far as quotes go I think I have you beat. 425 for a 4x8x1" piece of cell cast acrylic. The perks of my job.:D

Would love to see the tank in the finished basement some day. Still remember seeing the temporary pond in the middle.

Vldesign, you have used glass before on your plywood tanks correct ?

I'm about to search concrete design tanks. Whatever I do , it's going to be forever there! I'm all out there with ideas. Guess its a good thing I'm a ways away before starting a project

I loved your PDF files
Thanks for making them !

Ok thanks

Ill just have to see

I like saltwater better than fresh water tanks. I don't know if I'd be able to have snails ect or urchins. They may scratch the acrylic

well its sunday ?

lol

pictures ?

i showed my dad your pictures and he said damn. they are building them strong arent they , I said yea, and then told him you still have to line the inside with plywood

I am getting there lol. No plywood but almzost there on moving a dozen rays the stock tanks and another tank plus the big tank. Had an MFKer stop by and pick up a filter and pump from plus keeping an eye on a 7 week old daughter while my wife gets a few minutes to do things. Talk about a busy day lol.

Yea. Sounds like a very stressful day !!!

I love this website. I spend way to much time on it

There is just too much information to absorb in on things :)

I'm looking at cinder concrete block builds now lol :)

A dozen rays? Wow

I look at some on here and I couldn't find any for less than $700 bucks !!!

With having to rework the turtles temporary setup I was only able to get it pulled back were I want it. Now I just have to walk it over to the other side using the furniture dollies.

For those questioning the ability of the dollies yes they are rated at 1000 pounds. They are not holding that much weight on the ends so they will be fine. Floor jack was rated at 5000 pounds so all good there.

Was not going to rush moving all the rays so that will happen Tuesday. Side job on Monday so it has to wait. So...still don't think I can move it on my own?:D
