I don't see to many people offering juvie or fry pikes for sale. I'm talking about the ones that will grow over a foot. Are they that tough to spawn? I know they need a lot of room for a pair. I enjoy raising fry/juvie fish to adulthood and getting them to spawn. I'd rather not get some huge wild caught fish and hope they pair up. If anybody is selling some, let me know. I prefer some of the red species ( Tapajos, atabapo

They are very difficult to spawn, and many of the larger lugubris pike have never been spawned in captivity.

Your best bet is to get 4-6 WC smaller juvies, put them in a BIG tank and let them bond naturally.

Thanks, that makes sense. I'm sure they require a lot of room for a full grown adult pair. I would love to hear from someone who has spawned theses beautiful fish.

It has been done for some species, but they are few and far between. Off the top of my head the only lugubris spawn I can recall is Wayne Leibel spawn marmorata some years ago. There have been others but not many. If Peanut sees this, he can probably give more cases.

Thanks for the info. I did read up on few spawns but it is rare. I like a challenge. Hopefully, I can find some juvies and try to get them to breed eventually.
