My sister has a greek (well 2 but one got out), I would like a large species like a sulcata but they won't allow it. Neither will they allow me a turtle :(

how did it get out? Greeks are an awesome species I love mine, they are a good starter tortoise. I lost mine twice( :screwy: ) but I always found him when he went to bask in the morning.

Something (wind, dog, family member) knocked the fencing on the enclosure so a gap was created.
I like greeks but they are way too small for my liking. Geochelone sp. is where it's at.
My garden is way too large and wild to find a small tortoise haha

you would be surprised how easily it can be to find them. they have great personality and are very tame. have you had experience with tortoises? maybe start with a Greek or a Hermans and you see how you like torts, then maybe progress into larger species.

Someone needs to develop a GPS tracking chip for them! I'd love one but they're ridiculously expensive here, and I'm not sure how my dogs would get along with it. Last Hermann I saw for sale here was offered for $3k, but I've seen greeks cheaper.

I believe they are micro chipped as they are CITES listed, like Asian arowana. sucks they are so expensive, that's interesting as I saw Herman's for cheaper than Greeks, but they are smaller.
