My Canon camera has been slow to respond the last couple days, and then the message "error 99" appeared and it stopped working. For any of you who have been perplexed by this, I took a pencil and cleaned the gold contacts on the lens and camera with the eraser, it immediately began working normally again.
I have a group of 2 males, and 4 females of the Gymnogeophagus balzani, the males are becoming quite the blockheads

and an ornatum

Very nice Duanes. How big are your male balzanii? I have a 2.5" male and he's yet to develop a prominent block head.

The males are about 4", the females slightly smaller. The blockishness has seemed to be growing and more prominent lately as the water is cooling, not sure if this is the reason, but they are in an unheated tank.

They were too small, I thought they'd get lost in the pond.

I picked them up as only 1" juvies back in spring from Narwhal72, and they spent the summer growing out at room temp in a 60 gal tank with some Uruguayan Corydoras erhardti and a few juvie A red ceibals. They'll be ready for the pond next spring.

Looking good Duane!! Did you put these in your ponds outside for the summer?
