Well when you consider the fact that he had a square foot, yes it was an advantage. Most kickers have to kick with the sides of their feet. He just had to kick straight on. A square has more surface area than the side of your foot. Do you think it's easier to hit a baseball with a round bat or a flat 2x4?

He was a career 61% kicker. His accuracy was crap. Don't sound like an advantage to me. As a kicker for the Saints he attempted 20 FGs over 50 yards and made only four.

I never said it helped accuracy, in fact I'm sure it makes him less accurate. I was talking about power. It seems easier to me to just kick as hard as you can with a square then it would be to worry about where on the side of your foot it's hitting off of

this is why i want to see the actual sports science video. i need to hear their reason.

i'm glad we're actually talking about the act/science of kicking and not his life struggles. The sports science show break downs usually do a good job of taking a scientific look at things that can be measured. it's a remarkable feat but i'm still skeptical if he was able to kick further because of his cleat.

back when Dempsey kicked, Jan Stenarud was the only soccer style kicker of note (he kicked for the chiefs then packers).. the rest kicked straight on ,,some using square toe shoes,, DEMPSEY was a good kicker not great , other than the 1 kick.. then he became legendary , at least for the time I remember the telecast ,when they cut into the game I was watching to show the kick . nobody believed it.. BY THE WAY,, AS A SIDE NOTE,, kicking %'s weren't near as good for any kickers on long field goals in those days

What's the rules for switching teams. I have had enough of the bucs. Im serious. Do I have to defect to my home team?

True fans don't switch teams.....you gripe and vent, you wear black t-shirts, you break tvs (I don't recommend this), you join in on groups that are trying to change your team for the better, and if its bad enough you wait till the next season and just enjoy every game you do win; and how do I know, Ive been a Chiefs fan for the last 35yrs!

My bucs haven't been anything to be proud of since chucky destroyed them. I use to see a lot of games now I just turn on sports center to find out the loss margin. Lol. Schiano doesn't agitate me nearly as much as the owners do.

I'm thinking the division is ripe for the lions to swoop in and take it with cutler and Rodgers out for a few weeks

Hate to celebrate injuries but OMG the stars are lining up! Don't blow it boys!
