Does any have a adult Sao Fran

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The only problem I have is when vendors sell these fish under a mislabeled type of peacock bass for $175 at 3''. I lost faith in all these special collection point Kelberi ,Azuls and ridiculous hydrids. Just like this thread, a MFK member wants some pictures and reference of a Sao Fran Kelberi. Last year Sao Frans were Kel and Azul hybrids and this year they are Kelberi without spangles and bling. The Brokopondo Ocellarus is the only collection point fish I would spend major dollars on!! SMH

-I am reffering to your ref to the "sp sao fran" comment. That is where I was reffering to your need to search and dig a little deeper.

Pump your brakes angry fish guy.Wanksta you always hating on everyones threads. You need to READ before type. You don't have a picture of an adult Sao Fran so your comments aren't needed. You act like you own MFK. The last time I checked your fish collection was basic . So when we are reaching out to get some information in regards to a rare fish, there is no need for you to comment:thumbup:!!

-Oh you are so wrong here....In no way or form do I think I own MFK.
I have been around quite a bit longer than you and have a bit more understanding on the "ins" and "outs" of cichla...and the bs involved w/ them.
So when you post a thread asking opions I gave mine.
Just because you throw tons of cash around and into your collection doesnt make it any more special than mine. All I own are hybrid farmies ;)

Why is it people believe small kels all have to show Spangling on the anal fins at a small size lol. A kel can be 13 inches and just be getting them. I had one that didn't get anal Spangling at all and was a WC from rapps. Kels are not bass that show true potential at small sizes. They are a bass that takes time. Here's a kel that showed no spangles till about 13 inches but ended up smokin! And on another note I think the São Fran kels from scat originally came from Japan... So the only others alive are probably there or who knows where lol

One thing is the lack of the spangling on the fins, other is the lack of three major characteristics.

As I said it can be, but I wont believe. Therefore if you take a Cichla by yourself direct from Araguaia river, where there are only kelberis and azuls, even without all characteristics I would really agree its kelberi.

I want to get one thing cleared up here that's been driving me nuts lately, almost every sp of Cichla has spangling on their "fins" at one point in their growth, only kelberi has spangling on their anal "fin".

Yeah man, in the pelvic and anal fin! I believe its thir unique characteristic!

But with that being said....not all kelberi show this at small sizes.
Like funwow said the one he posted didnt show spangling on the anal fin until 13".
therefore you cannot ID a small/juvi kelberi based on spangling on the anal fin.

That's cool and great good points but no one knows the time frame they will spangle it could be 2"-3" or 9"-13" right now nobody can tell me they will all spangle the same size lol or they all will keep the trait of anal fin spangles when we have natural evolution lol
