240 gallon Plywood tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I haven't updated this thread in close to a year, so it's time to show you guys the difference a year makes. The tank is still holding strong with no leaks, so redgard is a product that can be found pretty readily, and cheaply that will waterproof an aquarium. As you can see all of the fish have grown quite a bit, but the most noticeable is the clown. It has grown a little less than an inch per month and appears to be nearing about a foot long! I love this tank, and am so happy that it has been a successful project. I have a feeling this isn't the last tank I will make ImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1383950522.008492.jpgImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1383950530.008290.jpg

Wow that looks amazing. When I buy a home I want to try my hand at building a tank. Even if costs are the same as buying I think the level of accomplishment would make it so worth it

Oh absolutely, just knowing that I built this is worth in itself. I was only 16 when I finished the tank and 15 when I started it which adds to the sense of accomplishment. So don't knock us young fish keepers, we're not all irresponsible!

Wow you're a young kid? Even more props for this awesome build, how long did it take? How much time a week?

I got most of the tank done within the first few months, but took about 6 months to finish from start to finish. I did most of the work over summer as that was when I had most of the free time and the most time consuming part of the project was waiting for the glass panel to come in. As for time put in, I would spend about 2 to 3 hours each day I worked on it and enjoyed every second of it. My dad helped me with it too which helped cut down on the time needed to finish the build
