Just that. Do you guys think that a pike characin sticky would would be something worth working on? If so, would anyone like to contribute? (DB Junkie, I'm looking at you!) Hopefully a sticky would help to drum up some interest for this often over looked and severely underrated group of fish. :)

The fish I'm specifically looking at including are-

Tiger pike (H. odoe)
Silver pike (C. hujeta)
Spotted pike (B. maculata)
Striped pike (B. lateristriga)
Bicuda (B. cuvieri)

Thoughts?

The more info that is easily available the better, I know people get blasted for not searching but searching on MFK can be a daunting task.

While on the subject how about a search filter that excludes FS threads?

That search function is easy enough. Use the advanced search option and select only those sections that you wish to search. It is entirely possible to leave out the marketplace. :)

EDIT- you have to use the advanced search that it gives you when you click on 'search forum', not the advanced search that is always at the top right of every page. I'm not sure why they're two different things.

I'm down, but I only have Odoe. :(

BUT I'd make tank space if we can get someone to bring in Bicuda......

Only concern is I was thinking these are a fish that would need to be the apex in the tank. Thought they were very skiddish "flighty" fish.

We need to get JD7.62 in in this. I'm not sure I remember anyone over the years with more hands on experience with them then he had.

Kevin (KNH) would be a good source for info on Odoe too, as I don't think there's many of us out there keeping groups of Odoe, seems the majority only keep one, and seems like people report them being much more prone to being aggressive without a group.

Hopefully those members find their way into this thread! I'll admit that I'm not the most knowledgeable on this group of fish, but I think I could certainly bang something out that would be useful. I've got a lock on the taxonomic info, but the care of these fish is something that I'd really like help with. I've only personally dealt with hujeta myself.

Between the knowledge of you guys and the active experiment that johnnytaboo is currently running, we might just be able to lay the aggressive odoe train of thought to rest. :)

Never knew there was a second search function....

Thanks

You are quite welcome. :)

I feel like its a good idea, these smaller characins are pretty popular so it would prolly get a good amount of attention.. even from non-members really, there's not much info on these guys on the net at all. I've always been interested in Bicuda, would love to hear from an owner

I purchased a group of macs a week ago...so I'm very interested in this kind of thread! :-)

Sadly I don't have enough experience yet to contribute...:-(

But I have some pics! :-)
