i love my oscar and what to know some fun facts that might not be know! :)

This is Midas my gold oscar, and every time I feed him I get wet. Lol and you can't set anything in the glass tops. If you do all you hear is thump as he/she try's to eat it through the glass.

haha no I should have took a video before I got rid of it. Got my finger once thats it though. Like I said it knew I was feeding it so it was surprisingly gentle.

ohh, nver get rid of a fish tht can do tricks like tht. well, at least i can imagine how it jumps. hahah now tht's just unfair man, how come my oscar wont do it? damn
 
My guy, Marlowe, has two different sulks. His main is when I do a water change, where he hugs the sand and sometimes lays on his side, playing dead. His second he's only done once, buy it's my best friend's fault! He was in my bedroom (at my mom's house, I haven't brought him over to new apt yet) and I was in there most days in his line of sight, messing on my computer. 90% of the time, he'd face the rest of the room. My bestie would be in to say hi, occasionally feed him, but more often just give him attention. She went out of town for a week and as of the third day, he faced the wall corner the tank was up against and for the first time ever, refused ALL food. When she got back, she got his attention and he went back to normal. How's that for a personal preference?

His face injuries are from a time I accidentally messed up cycle when I went out of town so he was.stressed on top of having ammonia burns. Was worse at first, but the big chunks are slow to heal :(

My five inch gold oscar is currently taking pleasure in preventing a pair of smaller pearl cichlids from spawning. They are digging a pit and their tubes are out, but the oscar keeps swimming in the middle of them. They try to chase him off but he just flares his gills and opens his big mouth and they back off. They seem pretty determined so I think the oscar will lose, but it's interesting to watch.

The oscar I used to have could play with ping pong balls allllllll day long. Used to dig a spawing pit and swim sideways and flare at his reflection on the bottom of the tank. Got so excited during feeding he would jump out of the tank. Man I miss that crazy fish.
