My New Red Dragon (Thank you jerseybrian)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would get him some complimentary tankmates while he's still young. He's beautiful and I'm sure he could share that 180 w some other beautiful fish. Might even make him develop better.

What a cute little FH!

I think he will have a hard KOK, but will look really good. All that red on his body is going to make him really awesome.

180G for a baby FH? I would add some plecos, may be some Giant Danios, FHs love to have dither fish.

They grow better and Look better!! ;)

I know from experience to only use dithers that are cheap and easily replaceable. FHs are incredibly smart and great at problem solving. A friend of mine lost 2 rays to a FH after she learned to tear out there tail spine. Them eat the eyes out. Even at 4" she still did damage to an 18" super red arowana.

Exactly why my 7 inch common pleco works great!
His skin is hard enough to resist nips and he is also intelligent enough to hide and play hard to get. Pisses my FH off, but keeps himself safe.

Thanks everyone for your feed back. Yes I know that a 180 is a big tank for a single baby Flowerhorn. I had to sell my other tanks to make room for my baby daughter and my 180 is the last tank left. I kept FH nearly a decade ago and I always loved how incredibly interactive they were. So when my large male Sysnspilium past away I knew what direction I wanted to go in with my tank. This little guy is loving his new home! He swims back and forth from one end of the tank to the other like he's an olympic swimmer in training. He follows me like a puppy dog anytime I'm anywhere near the tank, and I LOVE IT. My goal is to raise him for the next year or so and then possibly divide the tank and try to slowly introduce a female to him. This year has been the year from HELL for me so Im keeping things very simple right now with just my one "wet pet"

Yea bro, don't let anyone tell you 180 is too much. Believe me, your FH would thank you if he could talk lol. All that space will help him get huge really quickly. He's a stunner man!! Keep us updated as he gets bigger.

Thanks for the support Riftraft. So you had said earlier in this thread that he is a King Kamfa?? Honestly I think I remember the importer telling me that his mother was a red dragon and his father was a KK. This is hands down the nicest flower horn I have ever owned and Im pumped to see whats he's going to develop into. What do you regularly feed your flower horns to help maintain great color and health????
