Is Rihanna a music ICON???

One of the requirements, in my eyes at least, for being a music icon is that many successful musicians from the same genre and others have to consider your music influential. I'm not an award show viewer so maybe I've just never heard it but has anybody, particularly from other genres, called Rhianna a major influence?

i dont' know about that, probably not because of how young she still is and most artists/musicians who would be influenced by her would most likely be even younger then her but she did make Time magazine's list of most influential people in the world for 2012
 
I don't think it's the age that matters but to me actual time spent successful does. I hate the kid but bieber had the chance to be the next mj but the path he choice to take screwed him. At least Miley Cyrus found a way to make money off of the path she choice. Riahnna doesn't consider her self a role model and said it when that list was published. Despite the whole situation with Chris Brown she has been put out hit after hit and keeping her nose clean well some what

don't you think her song topics have gone down the drain though?

take a bow and unfaithfull were clever, umbrella and we run this town were trendy, hard had swag, disturbia was a banger and a huge hit, i haven't even mentioned only girl in the world, we found love and all the banger collabos (i love the way you lie, livin your life etc) but all the sex sex sex sex sex sex songs (s.o.s., rude boy, what's my name etc) are killing her rep for me.

Same with any other artist eventually they lose things to write about. At least she got five albums and still going. It's rare when you find artist like mj that stay successful for decades.

i would care if i felt she actually wrote her own songs.........no way you can't tell me after all this money and success and craze popularity, you can't find better writers.

heck, we could write a song that doesn't involve getting or giving the bizness from right here in the lounge for her.
